Whole armies of children may come under Christ’s banner as missionaries, even in their childhood years. The Bible in Proverbs 22:6 says “Train up a child in the way he should go even when he is old he will not depart from it.” And in John 1:4 Jesus Christ says “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth.”Įven children are known by the way they act, whether their conduct is pure, and whether it is right. Them too have a part to play, in reaching out to different colors, cultures, and communities in the best way that they can. To fulfilling the Mission, adventures have not been left out. We can only imagine the prophet’s response, “I Will Go.” Isn’t this theme coming at the right time when this world which Jesus commissioned us to reach out to with advent message (Matthew 28:19-20) is desynchronized with Lockdowns, closures, and supply chain woes due to the Covid-19 pandemic. This mission initiative was born from the inspiration of Isaiah 6 after God asked the prophet Isaiah about his willingness to go proclaim the Word having beheld the Holy presence. The World Church’s quinquennial strategic focus “I Will Go” is already a year in motion now. The Anniversary was celebrated under the theme “I Will Go”. The club has been in existence since the year 1989, meaning it celebrated its 32nd anniversary. Woodlands Conference took part in the commemoration of the first ever World Adventurer Day.ġ5th May, 2021 will go into Church history as the day the Seventh-day Adventist Church first celebrated the existence of the Adventurer club. (You remember my fish phobia, don’t you?)Īnd yes, the water was extremely cold - but it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. AJ had to swim hard to get our pictures from a few meters beneath.īest of all, there were no fish to be found in the rift. I do wonder how the divers were able to handle it - the drysuits make it difficult to actually get far below the surface. The drysuit kept me from having to do any work. All I had to do was lie on my stomach, kick occasionally, and watch that dreamy environment pass by. Snorkeling couldn’t have been a better way to experience Silfra. I had never been so mesmerized in my life. Then cerulean, further down in the rift, as everything got deeper.Īnd finally, the bottom of the rift vanished into a strong, thrumming shade of violet. Getting into the water redistributed the air pockets within the suit, and I was immediately much more comfortable.Īs the others gingerly stepped into the water, I rolled over to get a look at what lay beneath.īlue. The drysuit kept me right on the surface, and the tightness around my wrist eased. Now, that was a strange sensation - feeling like a giant marshmallow (or maybe the little brother in A Christmas Story), and floating perfectly on my back. Still a bit suspicious, I awkwardly walked down the ladder in my flippers and flopped into the water. “It will feel different once you get into the water.” My right hand felt like it was losing circulation - and I have tiny wrists to begin with. “Is this okay? Are you sure this is okay?” I kept asking AJ. It’s incredibly tight around your neck (as depicted in the photo above), as well as around your wrists. AJ helped us all out, but you’re going to lose a few hairs, no matter what. Know this: drysuits are incredibly uncomfortable and difficult to get on, particularly if you have long hair. On top went a mask and snorkel, a head cover, a set of gloves, and finally a pair of flippers. I have to wonder how many people violated that rule. “Do not pee in the drysuit,” AJ warned us again and again. What did we have to wear to snorkel in such cold waters? First, on top of thermals and thick socks (or for me, two pairs of leggings and two long-sleeved shirts), a warm suit that was essentially a human-shaped sleeping bag. Also with us was a group of divers from Dive.is, who would be following right behind us. There were six of us in our snorkeling group: two American guys, two British guys, a girl from Hong Kong, and me. The drive to Þingvellir National Park from Reykjavik took about an hour, and soon we arrived at Silfra. “It’s my home now.” Later, I checked out his bio on the Dive.is web site and found out that AJ spends his time plotting to be the first man to swim around Iceland. “How could you ever leave Cambodia and Thailand to live here in the cold?!” I asked him. AJ is originally from Poland and has made Iceland his home - though he likes to spend part of the winter diving in Southeast Asia, including one of my favorite places in the world, Sihanoukville! I knew this would be a physically strenuous activity and I was a bit nervous, but our guide, AJ, put me at ease right away, telling stories and cracking jokes. The result? We got Silfra all to ourselves. While there are lots of companies that do Silfra tours, Dive.is is the only tour to do it at this time of day. The tour leaves at 4:00 PM and returns at 9:00 PM, and there’s plenty of light throughout. Silfra is the rift between the American and Eurasian techtonic plates.įrom May 15 through August 31, Dive.is offers a Snorkeling Silfra Under the Midnight Sun tour. Most of my readers thought so, at least at first.īut people come to Silfra, located in Þingvellir National Park, for two reasons: first, to say that they snorkeled right between Europe and America. The water is fed by glaciers and keeps to a temperature of about 2 degrees C (34 F), even in May. Silfra, also known as “The Rift,” is home to astonishingly clear waters - some say the clearest in the world. One of the absolute most extreme things you can do in Iceland? Snorkeling (or even diving!) Silfra. Securing web hosting and a domain name are two of the most important steps for getting any blog online. Once you’ve settled on a niche and a name, it’s time to start preparing a website for your blog. Simply choose the one you like the most, or combine a few suggestions, and your new blog name is ready. There are various blog name generators you can use, often free of charge.Īll you have to do is give the generator a few keywords to work with, and the AI will come up with different names for your blog. Thankfully, you don’t have to spend ages staring at your notepad and waiting for inspiration to hit. Like your domain name, the name of your blog should pass the “bar test” –meaning that, even if shouted over a table in a busy bar, it should be easy enough to spell and remember. While some blogs with long names are highly successful, we recommend keeping yours short and sweet. Ideally, readers should know your niche from your blog title. And rightly so – look at any successful blog, and you’ll notice that they often have a catchy and unique name.īut how do you go about brainstorming a name for your blog and knowing whether it’s any good? Many “how to start a blog” guides swear by a thought-out blog name. If authority seems essential for your idea, you can feature interviews with experts on your blog. What’s more important is having a unique perspective on your topic and being keen to learn more.įor example, you might not be a professional photographer, but you can still start a blog about getting into photography as a beginner. Being a topical expert has a certain authority many readers look for, but it’s not a requirement. You don’t have to be an expert to profit from a niche. This way, you’ll know what’s trending in your niche and which blog post ideas you can immediately disregard. Use Google Trends to find the search volume of specific keywords related to your niche and determine whether people are talking about it on social media and community forums. There should be a level of pre-existing interest in your chosen topic to ensure you’ll have an audience to write to. Pick a niche that has audience potential.Or you could run a book blog focused on reading on a budget or in particular literary styles. If possible, make them more specific, like focusing on a particular cuisine (Japanese, Mexican, Italian) over blogging about all things food. Think about your hobbies, interests, or topics you’d like to learn more about. Writing about a topic you enjoy will always be more fulfilling than forcing yourself to write about something you’re uninterested in. Pick a niche that you like or are passionate about. To find the perfect niche for a successful blog, keep the following tips in mind: A dedicated audience will look forward to your next piece of content, giving your blog a steady stream of traffic. That’s why sticking to a niche that can get a devoted following is important. You might pull off a few successful quality blog posts, but your audience will be scattered, making it hard to maintain a loyal readership. However, trying to master every subject out there is incredibly difficult and unsustainable. When setting up your new blog, it may be tempting to cover a broad range of topics. A strong niche also helps you pick the name for your blog and develop a focused blogging strategy.Įxamples of blog niche ideas include writing about books, travel, gaming, photography, and food. Choose Your Blog NicheĪ niche is a specific topic that your blog will focus on, and it’s key in determining your target audience. In the upcoming sections, we’ll break down each step in the journey of how to make a blog for beginners and provide more details. If you’re looking for a quick guide on how to start a blog and make money online, here are the nine steps you should take By building a blog, you’ll improve your skills and learn new ones, including writing, marketing, SEO, and web development. It’s a flexible and mostly risk-free idea for a side hustle. There’s no denying that blogging has become a lucrative online business. If you’re a professional, it’s a great way to network with other experts within your industry as well. Running a blog allows you to reach new people, build a blogging community, and make friends. This process is exciting and therapeutic for many people. A blog is a medium to write and share your thoughts on a specific topic. But if you’re looking for an extra nudge, here are some reasons why you need a blog: The reasons for starting a blog will vary from person to person and brand to brand. Today, however, starting a blog is common for brands and people alike, and it’s often a crucial part of a content marketing strategy. Subscribe What Is a Blog and Why Should You Start OneĪ blog, in its early stages, was often an online journal written by an individual chronicling their life or hobby. 1/31/2024 0 Comments Producteev ganttProducteev Alternatives: 25+ Task Management Tools and Todo List Managers | AlternativeTo (function()() Skip to main contentSkip to site searchPlatformsCategoriesOnlineWindowsAndroidMaciPhoneLinuxiPadAndroid TabletProductivitySocialDevelopmentBackupRemote Work & StudyLoginSign up HomeOffice & ProductivityProducteevAlternativesProducteev AlternativesProducteev is described as 'online task management tool that serves as your full Productivity platform (Task and Project Management, Files Sharing, Internal Communication and Productivity Apps Aggregation)' and is a popular Task Management tool in the office & productivity category.Project management apps used to be complicated and expensive gear for high-level management. The results are Blossom, Bubbles and Buttercup, three adorable freaks of nature with giant exophthalmia eyes and fingerless stumps for arms who go by the collective term ‘The Whoopass Girls’ and do battle with appropriately ludicrous villains ‘The Amoeba Boys’. The story is of a lone professor who, for reasons that aren’t addressed but one assumes are innocent enough, attempts to create the perfect girls in his laboratory, absent-mindedly chucking in a ‘can of Whoopass’ (later changed to the more generic ‘Chemical X’) for good measure. The show is essentially a retooled television offshoot of McCracken’s student short A Sticky Situation, which in itself goes some way to explaining the equivocal vibe of the show it’d eventually become. Little tells such as the passive-aggressive asides the show’s narrator (Tom Kenny) would make, or the blink-and-miss-them double entendres and obscene sleight-of-hand sight gags all cultivated a general sense that the folks behind what you were watching were up to something not nearly as innocent as the squeaky voices and bright colours would have you initially believe. After a few minutes you either got it or you didn’t – that alternately beneath or above the surface of innocuous kids’ fare there was something a lot more clever, sharp and self-aware going on. I suppose we were the Bronies of our generation. And yes, I’m well aware of how creepy that looks written down. I really feel I should settle down with a nice girl like Bubbles, but I always wind up with the Buttercups. Against this backdrop, what possible appeal would a seemingly kitsch, Anime-informed show for – and about – infants have for such a classy – nay, damned classy – fellow as I? Even the cartoons I’d moved onto were unambiguous in their intended adult audience A promising new talent named Seth MacFarlane was charming the land with his fresh brand of edgy comedy that would doubtless prove inimitable and timeless (sorry, cheap shot). The type of TV my brain was tuned into back then mainly centered around Martin Sheen’s idyllic presidential rule of The West Wing and James Gandolfini delivering hard-hitting sociopolitical statements via his fists in The Sopranos. Nothing about Powerpuff Girls was, at first glance, something I should’ve been a fan of. One show, the brainchild of CalArts graduate Craig McCracken, both freaked me out and grabbed my attention with its abrasive cuteness, something of an odd combination at the time. See, when all my friends in secondary school were studying to become future world leaders, I was carving out more of a Worthless Piece of Human Garbage niche for myself by going out most nights to cackhandedly hit on townies, get hammered and come home to late-night animation (when they’d be repeated with that woman doing sign language in the corner of the screen – it always struck me as insult to injury that the poor deaf kids had to stay up til 2am just to watch cartoons) until I passed out. The world just didn’t understand, nor could they without giving it the hours of semi-drunken attention I’d had by that point. Such was the lament of all Powerpuff Girls fans who didn’t happen to be preadolescent and female. “Please refrain from speaking to me in future.”īuttercup. “I’m finding this conversation very unsettling.” And I think they’re meant to be about five years old.” They all kinda look like Frank Sidebottom. There’s, like, the sensible redhead one and the sort of feisty tomboy one and the ditzy blonde one…” And they fight monsters with their superpowers. “It’s like…well, it’s for kids, but it’s not.” You’re trying to explain to your peers the appeal of a certain Cartoon Network show: You’re reaching the end of your teens and vaguely resemble a giant potato with stubble. You’re now a stocky man in his late-twenties, eminently strokable in the beardy regions, able to subsist on a diet of powdered soup, chicken skin and Aberlour for days on end. I want to invite all you sexy, intelligent and cultured Skwigly readers to put yourselves in my shoes.
Though the button placement is a minor gripe (we expect most people to set the alarms via the iHome app), it's worth pointing out. That's also where you'll find an auxiliary input for connecting other audio devices. Alas, the alarm set buttons are on the back of the unit along with the Bluetooth pairing button. It also has dual alarms along with snooze and sleep features (you can set the unit to turn off after 15, 30, 60, 90, or 120 minutes). The iA100 has an FM radio (sorry, no AM) with six presets. The same can be said for an iPhone or iPod Touch (it supports docking of virtually all iPods) and it's worth pointing out that if you have a bulkier iPhone case, you shouldn't have any trouble docking your unit, which is a plus. It's not a huge amount of support, but when the end of Apple's universal connector goes into the port on your iPad, your device ends up being locked in place pretty securely. The support system is pretty simple a small, rubber-covered bar keeps the iPad standing at a slight angle. In fact, it has just about everything you'd want in a tabletop iPod/iPhone/iPad stereo.įor starters, you can dock and charge your iPad. As we said, the iA100 scores high in the features department. 1/31/2024 0 Comments Macos ftp serverYour firewall, this option will not help you, but a common firewall configuration is to allow passive FTP but not active FTP.
